Hi, I'm Sam. I grew up in Boston and on the Maine coast.
I moved to New York City in 2003 at the age of 18. I volunteered in the Bronx for a year and then studied at New York University while managing artists/bands on the side and working as a book/publication designer.
After graduating with a degree in Interdisciplinary Humanities, I taught secondary school for 5 years. I taught and designed courses on Ancient Greek literature, Tennessee Williams, contemporary poetry and more!
I then swerved into selling real estate(!?), primarily working with first-time buyers in Brooklyn. During those six years, I became more interested in images (after many years of studying, teaching and writing words) and enjoyed the flexibility to travel. My camera became my buddy. :)
In my travels, I discovered Scotland -- beautiful, diverse, culturally rich, and defined by its friendly people. I decided my 15+ years in New York had come to an end. As of 2020, I'm thrilled to be living in Scotland!
Now let's shoot some photos! :)
p.s. I'm also a UX Designer & User Researcher.
